BFOR MISSION STATEMENT
Bedford Friends of Recreation is a non-profit 501c3 organization that was founded in the 1980’s by a small group of recreation enthusiasts who were committed to giving back to the community of Bedford. That tradition of a passion for recreation and a commitment to Bedford is a vital part of our organization today.
Over the past two decades, Bedford Friends of Recreation has raised and contributed over $200,000 directly to recreation programs and facilities, both active and passive, in Bedford. Some examples of contributions are: installing a wood floor at McKelvie School, installing a rubberized floor at Riddlebrook School ($40,000), installing outside basket ball courts at McKelvie School, assisting in the installation of a rubberized floor at Peter Woodbury School ($10,000), contributing to the playground at Riddlebrook School, contributing to the Timbertown Play Ground project ($20,000), contributing to the Bedford Boosters Club ($20,000), establishing and supporting the Rich Beyer Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund ($5,000), and annual support and sponsorships of The Bedford Basketball League for Bedford recreational basketball.
Bedford Friends of Recreation runs a Men’s Over 30 Basketball League each year which is open to Bedford residents. Sign-ups traditionally take place in late September and early October, and the season generally runs from November through March.
Membership in Bedford Friends of Recreation is open to anyone; participation in the basketball league is limited to Bedford Residents. Dues are set and collected in the fall of each year. There is a board of directors which is elected annually and there is an executive committee which is comprised of a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
Bedford Friends of Recreation is always looking to partner with other Bedford-based organizations in an effort to raise funds and support recreational programs and facilities that provide active or passive recreation opportunities for the Community of Bedford.
By joining the Bedford Friends of Recreation I understand that I am eligible to play in the Bedford Men's Over 30 Basketball League, providing I meet the age and residency requirements, and that I pledge to participate in the fundraising efforts of the group!
